Parenting in a pandemic

How to help your family through COVID-19

As a parent of two young children, when I was thrown into remote schooling a kindergartener, watching my two year old and working remotely, my thoughtfully created work-life balance was wrecked and suddenly everything was different.

The summer of 2020, I said to my husband, I am so worried about how families will make their way through it. And he suggested I write a book. At first I said why me? Then I realized I was in a uniquely perfect position to do so.

As a pediatrician who has worked with the sickest kids, publishing medical research, and in public health, I can translate the science. My honors psychology thesis was on the biopsychological response to stress and predictors of resilience. And I’ve been living the experience alongside so many other families in NYC.

So in a whirlwind month, I wrote Parenting in a Pandemic. My passion for the topic fueled my work mostly before my kids woke up and after they went to bed. When I was done I recorded the audiobook in my closet.
